All Words In The Dictionaries Died

Concert Overview

All Words in the Dictionaries Died - music by Dina Shilleh and Robin Burlton

All Words in the Dictionaries Died is a selection of new compositions which sets the work of contemporary Arab poets for voice and different instrumental combinations. The poetry is either set directly or is used as a starting point for the musical ideas. The poetry draws on different aspects of love – the beauty of everyday interactions and also the searching despair or even ambivalence of its loss – and the belief in a future which provides hope amongst contemporary frustration and grief.

Poetry by Yasser Khanger, Nizar Qabbani, Mahmoud Darwish, and Zakaria Mohamad.
