Over the years, Gradus-العتبة has sought to engage its audience with the idea that music holds as great a capacity as any subject for a studious analysis of its form and function. What we take from analysis as musicians is a deeper understanding of what lies beneath a creation and consider how we can apply that in approaching the composition of new works. 

In its most recent season, Gradus-العتبة held lectures on various topics involving the creation of music, what music takes from other areas and how it can involve these extra-musical elements into the creative process.
