From The Top Of The Mountain - music by Robin Burlton, Dina Shilleh, Tareq Abboushi, Maya Khaldi, Makimakkuk and Sarouna Mshasha

From The Top Of The Mountain is a collaborative concert which sees each of the composers from this season of Gradus- العتبة create and perform music for each other.

The overarching theme for the compositions is the city of Ramallah and each writer chose their own path of enquiry; where they wandered was up to them but the starting point was the city itself. The compositions delve into the present and the past; the minutiae of daily life with its redolent sounds, joys and troubles are transported to the music itself, the impressions familiar to us on a daily basis and how we interact with the city are incorporated into the framework of pieces, and the memories which remain in the structure of the city provide haunting reminders of the histories which surround us and with which we are infused.
