Constructed Distances - music by Muqata'a
Constructed Distances explores the imposed reality of fragmentation, disconnection, and dispersion. Through field recordings, sonic fragments, and unstable rhythms, it constructs embodied sonic formations. The performance consists of a series of musical pieces presented as a single unit in an attempt to explore fragmentation and geographical dissonance, and the relationship between the two. The work questions the engineering of reality that produces lived experiences which appear dissonant, even though they are interconnected. It deconstructs the notion of “solidarity” as an act that takes distance from events, revealing this contradiction in an attempt to break it and search for deeper forms of connection and unity.
